This a simple and effective way to strengthen the smaller low back muscles.
This is a simple exercise to help develop lower back strength which can prevent low back pain and injury.
The buoyancy of water reduces the “weight” of a person by about 90%, which means that the stress on weightbearing joints, bones and muscles is similarly reduced. For this reason, it is unlikely that a water workout will result in injury or leave you with sore muscles. That’s why the pool is such a great place for people with arthritis or back problems to exercise. It is also great for those who are new to exercise.

A new study funded by the National Institutes of Health revealed that exercise may be underutilized for chronic back and neck pain, and there is a lack of knowledge about exercise prescription, including who is prescribing it, who is getting it and what type of exercise is being prescribed.
The study was published in the February issue of Arthritis Care & Research
